To Be A Righteous Man in a World that Hates You, Come Apocalypse, Come What May
I recently came across a Meme that an Old High school Friend of Mine had shared; On the left it showed a person in the sunlight reading the Holy Bible and said ‘some of the rudest most hateful people look like this.’ And on the Right it showed a goth girl and it said ‘some of the nicest people look like this.’ Needless to say I was disappointed that My Friend had easily engaged in Christian Bashing.
The Problem is that Christians do not stand Up for themselves, and indeed with Their [Our] conscious guilt at being a sinner [as We are the only ones in the World Who recognize Our Sinful, lusting, Fallen nature] and not wanting to be accursed by that Old Commandment Not to Hate their Brother and to Love their Neighbour—Because of this inclination We Christians will allow Worldly seething and condemnation to rain down On Us; without a defense, without an objection.
Isn’t this what Jesus spoke to His Disciples about when He announced the din of the Worldly hatred towards them…
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:18-19
Although, while I am disappointed to see My Old Friend easily take swipes at Myself and My brethren, and in this nothing is New or Surprising—just the dull ache of a realization of Our being reviled in the World and in some sense Cast Out. I have a second testimony which will Bring You Encouragement…
For Jesus also said to His Disciples…
“And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.” Matthew 10:14
Now it Is Our Mandate to go into the World and Preach the Good News.
As I have exposed My Christian Spirit on YouTube…In the Past Few Months really finding My Authentic Voice as a Christian, it has resulted in Me losing upwards of 100 subscribes out of My 1,000 total just in the past 2-3 months.
If I was Going at it to Be Popular I would have remained silent.
Instead I have shared My thoughts on everything ranging from Homosexuality to Transgenderism to Dating and Chasing Women. Much vitriol has attended My Spoken Mission.
Yet I Consider it ‘Clearing Out the Deadwood’ as in a brush fire. And Moreover Many of My Believing Christian followers have supported Me in Kind Comments and Warm wishes of the ‘God Bless’ variety.
As Jesus Said, all that is incumbent upon Us is to spread the Love of Christ and About ‘All’ of that Stuff about the World rejecting Us—We are not concerned because it is God Who Sees All things and Makes All things Right as Rain.
Which Leads Me to a Question, which I will not play a trick on You with. Here it is. Who Would You Want to See You as You are carrying on in Righteousness? Yourself? Others? Or God?
The Answer should be Obvious and as it goes the One Who You want to See You Does See You. God Sees All. What is done in the Dark [Righteousness or Filthiness] is Brought to the Light.
So the One Who will Reward You Will Reward You and He Does See You for exactly Who You Are. Your True Self [and the Truth ‘of’ Yourself] as Jim Caviezel attests is Seen By God.
If You See Yourself as Righteous, no harm done, except what Reward can You offer Yourself in Return. If Other See You as Righteous this is a Good Thing, but in the World the Others Who Really See Your Worth may and probably will be Powerless in the World. It is still Good to Lead by Example However.
But the One Who Can Offer You Eternal Life, Wipe Away Every Tear, Give You the Spirit of God, — He Definitely Sees everything, including Your Quiet Daily struggle when You are alone and the Night closes In.
Finally this Brings Us to the Crescendo, What Does Real Righteousness ‘Look’ Like. I think My favourite Movie to Illustrate this is Denzel Washington as Eli in ‘The Book of Eli.’ Carrying himself through the Wasteland run by thieves, murderers and cannibals and the local despot, Eli takes every step while listening to the Voice of God. The Way that You imagine that Our Father Abraham Might Have.
Now Eli Moves through each Encounter being Righteous. He has To Use Violence against the Evil around Him [under threat of losing His Life], but We See that He is Shielded by God. Up to literally evaporating bullets that strike His jacket.
Eli doesn’t miraculously liberate every misdeed done in His Presence, but Does exactly What God instructs Him. And We know God is talking to Eli by the monologue running through the scenes of Eli talking to Himself or Talking rhetorically.
This Movie Perfectly Illustrates what Righteousness Is.
And here’s another Question with which I won’t leave You in suspense.
If the Apocalypse did Come, Would You Steal Food to Eat, Or Harm Your Neighbour to take what is Theirs in order for You to live or survive? The Answer is close akin to What I wrote Above. You Would Not Steal. Because God Sees You and You want to be Righteous like Eli. God Will provide Your Path but You Would Not be well served by stealing or harming unjustly. As Johnny Cash sings in warning to the Unrighteous “You Can Run On For A Long Time, Sooner Or Later God ‘ll Cut You Down.”
If You Walked with God in the Apocalypse and [as True for Us Today] in Our Very Wicked World God Would [and Does] Provide You With a ‘Path.’
Which leaves Me to Write About One Final thing, in summary. What’s true for Jesus’ Disciples is True For Us, if We Love Him the World Hates Us. If Some Receive Our Words they are blessed. If We Are Righteous May We Be So in the Eyes of God [although We Cannot Brag Before God as Paul writes of Abraham not having anything to Brag of Before God]. If We Are Righteous May We Be Righteous Also in the Eyes of Those Who Witness Us, that they may be filled With the Spirit of God. God Gives the Reward and Come what May, whether it be Apocalypse or Wicked World Let Us be Righteous to the measure accorded to Us By Our Lord and Saviour and in this Only Through Him Christ Jesus, Amen. - Gregory Mathew Wilford
